Social Work Department starts Masters of Social Work

The Department of Social Work and Social Administration will commence the degree Master’s of Social Work (MSW) at Uganda Christian University (UCU) main campus in the next Academic year, Advent semester 2016. Mr. Kasule S. Kibirige social work lecturer made a presentation of the MSW program at the Faculty of Social Sciences Supervisors’ Research seminar, held on the 26th and 27th May 2016 at The Ankrah Foundation in Mukono.

“The program is planned to attract prospective and high quality scholars; and strategic effort is underway to lobby for potential collaborations or partnerships with prospective institutions for a successful implementation of the MSW program at the University,” – said Mr. Kasule Kibirige

In addition, the Radford University School of Social Work Uganda Research Team also contributed or deliberated on the prospects for success of the MSW program. The Radford University Uganda Research Team visited UCU on a partnership for research with the Department of Social Work and Social Administration.

In one of the meetings while at UCU, Dr. Deneen Logan Evans, the Principle Investigator of the Uganda Research Team, made a presentation on the experiences for effective development and Management of an MSW program. She deliberated on an MSW program research, innovations, collaborations and Partnerships. Research Team also participated in a Faculty seminar on Social Work field practicum. The seminar discussed strategies for designing, planning and implementing successful and comprehensively relevant Social Work field practicum.
